Starlight's core is to be a beacon of light in a world where everything feels dark and hopeless, where shouting is more common than conversation, and where good storytelling is overshadowed by sensation and AI slop. Not at Starlight. We are a nonfiction storytelling movement focused on fostering human connection by shedding light on the people, places, and communities that go underserved, underrepresented, and overlooked in mainstream media. We prioritize stories that not only celebrate our diverse world and communities but also take creative risks and feature creators willing to break boundaries and boxes

While we primarily focus on documentary films, Starlight is also home to documentary photo projects and audio projects. We prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion and want to ensure that women, non-binary people, trans folk, LGBTQIA folk, people of color, and other marginalized communities find a home both on and off-screen.
